In 2001, after years of serving customers in Minneapolis as repair technicians, Tom and Dwane realized there were no great options for quality appliance service in Minneapolis.
They envisioned creating a company that valued superior customer experience as its core mission.
This vision led to the founding of D&T Appliance Service.
Early Challenges and Growth
we quickly outgrew our humble beginnings
From 2001 to 2005, D&T Appliance Service operated out of Tom’s home. During these early years, technicians relied on trusty map books to locate customer addresses, navigating through uncharted territories with paper maps and customer-provided directions.
As the business grew, it became clear that a commercial space was necessary to support the expanding operations. In 2005, D&T Appliance Service moved to a business rental space, marking a significant milestone in the company’s journey.
By 2006, the company had acquired its current building, solidifying its presence in the community and providing a stable base for continued growth.
D&T Appliance Service’s journey from a modest home-based operation to a respected community business is a testament to the founders’ vision and the family’s unwavering dedication. As the next generation leads the company forward, they remain committed to upholding the values and standards that have defined their success for over two decades.
A Family-Driven Enterprise
From the beginning, D&T Appliance Service has been a family affair.
Tom’s daughter, Ashley, played a crucial role by designing the company logo while still in high school. When Dwane took an unexpected medical leave, Tom’s son, Nick, stepped in to help Tom keep up with service calls. Dwane’s daughter, Kristina, was the company’s first official employee, managing phone calls during her summer break from college in 2002.
The involvement of family members has been a cornerstone of the company’s operations, emphasizing the collaborative spirit that defines D&T Appliance Service.
Preparing the Next Generation
Tom and Dwane’s foresight in preparing the next generation has been pivotal to the company’s success. Their dedication to mentoring and training has ensured that the company remains in capable hands, with family members taking on key roles and driving the business forward.
Nick Lundin
Operations Manager
Nick brought his expertise in business management to D&T Appliance Service in 2013, after moving back from Arizona.
Initially, he oversaw the service and parts department. After a brief hiatus, Nick returned in 2018 to train as a service technician specializing in refrigeration repair.
His comprehensive understanding of the business and hands-on experience culminated in his promotion to operations manager in 2022, where he now oversees all company functions.
Ashley Lundin
Office Manager
Ashley began her journey with D&T Appliance Service in 2005, initially working part-time while managing warranty service calls.
Her dedication and talent quickly became apparent, and she gradually took on more responsibility.
By 2008, Ashley had advanced to the role of office manager, where she now oversees administrative and financial functions, IT, and human resources.
Amy Felton
Service Manager
Amy joined D&T Appliance Service in 2008 as a customer service representative. Her commitment to the company along with her ability to excel in various roles led to her promotion to parts manager and then service manager.
As the service manager, Amy ensures smooth operations between the office and service teams.
Her leadership and dedication play a key role in upholding the company’s mission of delivering exceptional appliance service.
